Sask. police searching for carjackers after 2 vehicles stolen at gunpoint in Prince Albert, RM of Garden River

Saskatchewan RCMP are asking people in the rural municipalityof Garden River and the city of Prince Albert to be on the lookout for four people alleged to have been involved in carjacking a Good Samaritan, and then stealing another vehicle at gunpoint less than an hour later.

Saskatchewan RCMPand the Prince Albert Police Serviceare asking people in the rural municipalityof Garden River and the city of Prince Albert to be on the lookout for four people alleged to have been involved in carjacking a Good Samaritan, and then stealing another vehicle at gunpoint less than an hour later.

At about 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, two people driving in the RM of Garden River, just northeast of Prince Albert,stopped to help someonethey believed to be a stranded motorist, RCMP say.

The Good Samaritanswere threatened by a person with a gun and their vehicle, a red 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup with theSaskatchewan licence plate 529 ISI, wasstolen, police said in a news release.

Around 5:40 p.m.,the stolen truck and its occupants showed upnear the north parking lot of Little Red River Park in Prince Albert, wheretwo people were also threatened with a gun and assaulted. Theirvehicle, a black 2013 Kia SportageSUV (Saskatchewan plate 803 MKY), was also stolen.

One of the victims suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and required hospital treatment, police say.

Shortly after the second carjacking, both stolen vehicles were involved in a collision onthe Diefenbaker Bridge in Prince Albert, according to police. Both vehicles fled the scene, but the red Dodge pickup was later found. It'sbeing processed by the Saskatchewan RCMP's forensic identification services, police said, but they are still looking for the Kia.

Police said they have limited descriptions of the people involved, but they are described as three males,all of whom are tall and thin, and one female.

One of the male suspects was wearing a red shirt and had multiple tattoos, while another was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie.

Prince Albert RCMP and the city's police service say the suspects should be considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached if spotted.

The Prince Albert Police Service says it isincreasing patrols in theareas where the incidents happened, particularly around Little Red River Park.
