City of Saskatoon estimates 100,000 potholes filled this year

Road crews in Saskatoon have been busy this year.

The city's public works department estimates 100,000 potholes have been filled so far.

"Residents continue to tell us in our annual survey that road maintenance is their top priority for civic services," said Pat Hyde, Director of Public Works in an news release.

So far, road crews have used 1,745 tonnes of hot asphalt on pothole repairs, enough to fill 14 backyard swimming pools.

Crews are also busy paving utility breaks, holes in pavement created when workers need to gain access to water mains and make other emergency repairs.

The city has created an online map to report potholes, which can be accessed through the city's website.
