2 charged with 1st-degree murder in connection with February Saskatoon homicide

Two people have been charged with murder in connection with a February homicide in Saskatoon.

Two people have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a February homicide in Saskatoon, police say.

The victim, a 48-year-old man whom police have not named, was found with gunshot woundsin the early hours of Feb. 17 at ahome on the 200 block of Avenue I South,in the Riversdale neighbourhood.

He was taken to hospitalbut died from the injuries soon after.

Police told CBC at that time they werelooking for a suspect who was known to the victim.

In a Thursday news release, the Saskatoon Police Service said they had arrested a 37-year-old man, who was wanted for breach of probation, on Wednesday.

He was later charged by the major crimes unit withfirst-degree murder in the February homicide.

Anotherman, 34, was arrested by Saskatoon police on Thursday, and also charged with first-degree murder.

Police did not release the names of either of the accused. Both were expected toappear before a justice of the peace Thursday evening, police said.

The major crimes unit is continuing its investigation, according to police.
