Saskatoon 1st Canadian city to host World Indigenous Business Forum

Saskatoon will be the first Canadian city to host the World Indigenous Business Forum, which will bring hundreds of delegates from around the world to the city from Aug. 23-25.

The conference runs from Aug. 23-25

Hundreds of delegates are expected to converge on Saskatoon for the 2016 World Indigenous Business Forum.

The international forum aims to engage Indigenous people in global economic discussions related to community, industry, academiaand government.

Saskatoon is perfect

City of Saskatoon director of aboriginal relations Gilles Dorval said Saskatoon was the perfect city to host the forum.

"It has a significantpresence of Indigenous entrepreneurs and many formidable partnerships involving all levels ofgovernments," he said.

"Just as important,Saskatoon is one of the first cities in North America to designate city property to First Nations land."

Sask. speakers

Speakers from Saskatchewan will include Cameco Corporation senior vice-president Alice Wong, Saskatoon Mayor Don Atchison and PotashCorp diversity and inclusion director Leanne M. Bellegarde.

Previous forums have been held in Australia, Namibia,Guatemala and Hawaii in the U.S.
