Michael Andrew Arcand facing attempted murder charge after Saskatoon downtown police chase

A 34-year-old Saskatoon man is facing seven charges, including attempted murder, in the wake of a wild chase and confrontation with police last Wednesday.

A 34-year-old Saskatoon man is facing seven charges, including attempted murder, after a wild chase and confrontation with police last week.

Michael Andrew Arcand is still in hospital recoveringfrom getting shot during the pursuit.

Arcand was supposed to be formally charged this morning at provincial court. But when his name was called, the judge was told that Arcandwas still in thehospital "with bullet wounds."

A bench warrant was held and he's not scheduled to appear until Oct. 9.

The charges are outlined on the docket. In addition to attempted murder, he's also facing charges that include making a firearm.

On Sept. 27, police were called with reports that a man was breaking into vehicles downtown.It's alleged that the suspect fired at police with a homemade weapon before taking off on foot.

Officers used a Taser, beanbag gun, service pistol and police dog to get Arcand under arrest.

No bystanders were hurt.
