Saskatoon tech company Coconut Calendar gets $4.2M in funding

Saskatoon's Coconut Software Corporation has received a big boost with $4.2 million in investments.

Used by big names like London Drugs, Rogers, and Telus, their product Coconut Calendar is designed to help large companies manage customer appointments through features such as online bookings, automated reminders, and calendar syncing.

Building a local tech community

Founded in 2011, this is the company's first significant round of venture capital financing, with a seed round of $710,000 raised in October 2016.

With this round of funding, Coconut has joined a growing list of prosperous Saskatoon technology firms.

"We're starting to get this community of technology in Saskatoon of leaders who are saying, you know what, we can build great companies right here in Saskatoon," said Coconut Calendar CEO KatherineRegnier.

Active in tech industry

Regnier says the company will use the recent funding to hire more staff at their offices in both Saskatoon and Toronto.

Regnier is active in the technology industry, as a board member of Saskatchewan technology incubator Co.Labs, and will be heading to California in December to participate in 48hrs in the Valley, a program that introduces Canadian startups to mentors, investors and industry executives.
