Another worker hurt at Agrium's Vanscoy, Sask., potash mine

Another worker has beenseriously hurt undergroundat theAgriumpotash mine inVanscoy, Sask.

Todd Steen, general manager of the mine, said the incident happened around 11 a.m. Sunday. The man was airlifted by STARSAir Ambulance to hospital in Saskatoon, where he is expected to recover.

"It's obviously very upsetting for us," Steen said Monday afternoon, as this comes less than two weeks after the accident that led to the death 29-year-old Chad Wiklun.

The family of the man hurt Sunday morning has asked that his name not be released.

"Right now the family's asked for privacy while they deal with this," said Darrin Kruger, president of United Steelworkers Local 7552.

Kruger admitted that other workers at the site have been left feeling upset and distraught to see another incident happenso soon after Wiklun's death.

"That's to be expected. Two instances like this back to back is a cause for concern. But everybody's working together to try and figure out what happened."

No details have been given as to what happened. Both the company and the union said an investigation is already underway.

Operations have been shut down following the incident, but workers are still on site.

The mine is located about30 kilometres southwest ofSaskatoon.
