In a recent rant on CBC's The Rick Mercer Report, Mercer tackled the issue of teen suicide.

Pointing to a statistic that suggests nearly 300 young Canadians take their own lives every year, Mercer said adults have a greater responsibility to educate and support bullied teens. Mercer also suggested that teachers and parents take a stricter approach with the bullies themselves.

Referring to a viral campaign aimed at bullied gay teens called "It Gets Better", Mercer exclaimed "we have to make it better now. Three hundred kids is 300 too many."A spate of teen suicides related to bullying have increased public awareness of the issue.
