People in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Prince Edward Islandand Saskatchewan all have the day offthe provincial holiday is known asLouis Riel Day inManitoba and Islander Day in Prince Edward Island.

Family Day was first held in Alberta in 1990 and has caught on in other provinces. Currently, its not a federal holiday.

British Columbia is set to begin enjoying Family Day next year.
