A downtown retirement home in Sudbury wants to double its size.

The developers of the Red Oak Villa on Ste. Anne Road will try to convince the city's planning committee tonight that it should build a six-storey addition.

The project would bring the number of rooms in the home from 84 up to 198.

If planning approves the project, it still has to go to city council for final say.

City staff are recommending the project go ahead.

There have been no objections from the public about the development so far.
