CBC readers impressed with Rick Nelson, the bear-knuckle boxer

On Tuesday, CBC published a story on Rick Nelson, the 61-year old Sudbury man who came face-to-face with a black bear.

Meeting a black bear in the Sudbury area isn't uncommon, but Nelson's strategy was: he socked the bear in the nose.

Nelson's recounting of the fightturned out to be one of CBC's most popular stories that week.

"I had my wife's favourite rescue dog with me, tied to a tree. That's why I stayed and we were trapped with a cliff right at our back so lets see. Take my wife'sfavourite dog home ripped to shreds in a blanket and face her or stand and face the bear. Hmmmmm bring it on Bear."
