Two women remain in hospital after a multi-vehicle crash in downtown Sudbury yesterday.

Sudbury Police say an eastbound black Infinity rear-ended a vehicle which had just parked along Elgin Street.

That impact caused a domino effect: the first parked vehicle hit a parking meter, a light standard and another unoccupied parked vehicle. That vehicle then hit another one in front of it.

Investigators say the Infinity was going fast and the driver lost control.

A 36-year-old man is charged with impaired driving.

His female passenger sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

A female driver who had just parked her vehicle also suffered what are described as serious injuries.
