Lively man faces charges after crash that killed DJ Hancock

Walter Carter, 39, will be in court today to face charges after fatal Highway 17 SW bypass collision on Aug. 21.

Sudbury OPP say a man from Lively is facing chargesfollowing a fatal motor vehicle collision two weeks ago.

On August 21, police were called to a three-vehicle collision on the Highway 17 southwest bypass, between Southview Drive and Fielding Road.

Police say a pickup truck collided with two oncoming eastbound vehicles.

Dean "DJ" Hancock was 18 when he died in an August 2014 car crash. (gnml.org)

DJHancockofSudburywas pronounced dead at the scene. The 18-year-oldwas returning from a tryout for the Sudbury Nickel Barons hockey team when the crash happened.

Walter Carter, 39, of Lively is facing a number of charges in connection with the crash, including impaired driving causing death and dangerous operation causing death.

He's set to appear in court Sept. 4.
