Edna Russell, 95, dies in Hwy 17 crash near North Bay

A North Bay woman is dead after a head-on crash on Highway 17 near the city yesterday.

OPP reportofficers responded to the crash near Dube Road in East Ferris at about 1 p.m.on Monday, after awestbound vehicle went into the eastbound lane and the vehicles collided.

The three people in the eastbound vehicle had to be pulled from the wreckage by fire fighters. A female passenger, 95-year-old Edna Russell, later died in hospital.

Everyone else involved suffered what police call non-life-threatening injuries.
