A five-year agreement has been reached between the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Ontario Northland president Corina Moore says the company is pleased that an agreement has been reached with the union, which "has shown tremendous leadership and commitment to the company."

Union spokesman Steve Martin says the five-year deal acknowledges the unique skills of the union membership and provides job stability for duration of the agreement.

The IBEW represents unionized employees who are responsible for maintaining and repairing the signal system, highway grade crossing protection and electronic train scanning equipment along Ontario Northland's rail line.
