Sudbury police arrest 59-year-old man for defacing Pride crosswalk

Sudbury, Ont., police have arrested and charged a 59-year-old man with mischief for defacing a Pride flag painting along a downtown crosswalk.

Police say they believe the vandalism was motivated by hate

Sudbury, Ont., police have arrested and charged a 59-year-old man with mischief for defacing a Pride flag painting along a downtown crosswalk.

The Pride crosswalk on Minto Street was defaced with white paint on Aug. 3.

Police say the person responsible was caught on video surveillance footage.

In a newsrelease, police saythey believe the vandalism was motivated by hate or bias against the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

The man cannot be named because he has not yet been sworn through the court process.

He has a court date on Oct. 30 to answer to the charge of mischief.
