Scoliosis surgery helps Sudbury teen realize black belt dream

A teenager in Sudbury says she has the localShrine Club to thank for life-changing surgery.

At the age of 11,Jurnee Parisotto-Charron was an up-and-comingblack belt in karate when shewas diagnosed with severe scoliosis. The diagnosis puther athletic career on hold.

Parisotto-Charron's parents reached out to the shrine club, who referred her for surgery at the Shriners Hospital for Children-Canada in Montreal.

Now at the age of 16, Parisotto-Charronhas that blackbelt.She told her story toCBC reporter Olivia Stefanovich:
