Stephen Perry death inquest wraps today at Sudbury courthouse

A five-person jury will give recommendations today as the Stephen Perry inquiry comes to a close at the Sudbury courthouse.

Perry died underground at Vale's Coleman mine in Levack on Jan. 29, 2012,when a 14-tonne chunk ofrockfacecame loose, killing him.

Witnesseshave been testifying at the mandatory inquiry since Monday morning.

Vale, the Steelworker's union and Perry's family have all made recommendations about what they think should change in the wake of the 47-year-old's death.

The jury ultimately decides what recommendations should be adopted by the mine or the industry, if any.

Those recommendations are not binding.
