2 charged with attempted murder after shooting at Sudbury grocery store

Sudbury police have charged two people with attempted murder after a man was shot at the self-checkout line at a local grocery store on Thursday.

Police say officers were dispatched to a Food Basics grocery store on Notre Dame Avenue on Thursdayshortly before 7:30 p.m.

Police say everyone involved in the shooting, including the 31-year-old male victim, fled the scene after it happened.

The man eventually made it to the hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Through their investigation, police said,they were led to a home on Baker Street, where they found a teenage male who matched the description of the shooter.

The 17-year-old ran from the home but officers with the K-9 unit found him a short time later.

Police recovered the firearm they believe was used in the shooting. They also charged the 17-year old with attempted murderand several offencesrelated to the unauthorized use and possession of a firearm.

Police later arrested a 22-year-old man and also charged him with attempted murder, and other offences.

Police say the shooting was a targeted incidentand the people involved were known to each other.
