Sudbury Food Bank needs pre-packaged snacks for school lunches

The Sudbury food bank is looking for donations of snack-sized food as the school year begins.

As families get ready for school, staff are gettingmany requests for canned fruit cups, juice boxes and pre-wrapped brownies, said executive director Dan Xilon.

"We're going to be having a lot of requests for the snack foods and such like that," he said."I mean really, does anybody want a child going to school to be the only student in the lunchroom not to have the little cup of canned fruit?"

Xilonsays protein is also a need at the food bank and he's encouraging donors to give canned ham and tuna.

Due to allergy concerns, peanut butter isn't being as promoted as much these days as many schools won't allow the protein-abundant spread.
