A new sign with a new name is now standing outside the Sudbury hospital.

What was once the Laurentian Hospital is now known as the Ramsey Lake Health Centre.

Last fall, the Sudbury Regional Hospital changed its name and the sign out front to Health Sciences North.

But hospital spokesperson Dan Lessard said that was always meant to be the name of the organization, not this specific site.

"I hope people don't get confused," he said. "It's not a new name. We announced this back when we announced Health Sciences North."

Many Sudburians have been calling the hospital Health Sciences North, since that name was unveiled last fall.

But spokesperson Dan Lessard says that was never meant to be the name for themain site.

"That's the name for the organization," he added. "And under the banner or umbrella of Health Sciences North, there's several sites, each with their own areas of responsibility and care and expertise."

Health Sciences North has close to adozen other sites in the city including the old Memorial Hospital, which is now known as the Sudbury Outpatient Centre.

Before this most recent manifestation of the hospitals name, it has been Laurentian Hospital, as well as Sudbury Regional Hospital.

The new sign for Ramsey Lake Health Centre went up outside the hospital at 41 Ramsey Lake Road on Wednesday.

Lessard said the cost of the hospital's re-branding, including this new sign, is about $140,000.
