The Ministry of Natural Resources has fined a woman for allowing a hunter from outside Ontario to harvest a black bear where his licence wasn't valid.

The Ministry of Natural Resources has fined a woman for allowing a hunter from outside of Ontario to harvest a black bear where his licence wasn't valid.

According to the MNR, the woman was an employee of a White River-based bear outfitting company.

The MNR reports Melissa Jones allowed a man to shoot a black bear illegally and then falsified some of his paperwork.

Late last month, aWawa court justice heard MNR conservation officers discovered the violation during an audit. They later confirmed the violation with the hunter, who had returned to hunt in the area the following year.

Jones pleaded guilty to being a party to the offence of non-resident hunting of a black bear without a licence and failing to return voided certificates. She was fined $1,200.
