Fatal highway crash victim ID'd

Ontario Provincial Police have identified a Manitoba man as the victim of a fatal highway accident east of Kenora, Ont.

Benjamin Bueckert, 57, of Gladstone, Man. was passenger in tractor-trailer

Ontario Provincial Police have identified a Manitoba man as the victim of a fatal highway accident east of Kenora, Ont.

It happened late Wednesday night on Highway 17, about 20 km east of the junction with Highway 71.

Benjamin Bueckert, 57, of Gladstone, Man.was a passenger in a transport truck involved in a collision with an another tractor-trailer near Percy Lake. He died in Kenora hospital.

The driver of the same transport was removed from the vehicle by Kenora firefightersand taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police closed the Trans-Canada Highway for several hours between the Highway 71junction and Vermilion Bay before reopening it to one lane.

OPP were allowing eastbound and westbound traffic through on an alternating basis.
