New rules for Squeers Lake Winter Fishery in northern Ontario

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry in Ontario has done away with the need to apply to fish the controlled winter ice fishery on Squeers Lake, about 100 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry in Ontariohas done away with the need to apply to fish the controlled winter ice fishery on Squeers Lake, about 100 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay.

As well, the MNRF has shortened the season for this popular annual event, whichattracts hundreds of people each year.

The outdoor columnist on Superior Morning, Gord Ellis, spoke with the host of the CBC morning show in Thunder Bay about the changes to the winter ice fishery for 2016.
