Northwestern Ont. women honoured at annual awards program

Seven women in northwestern Ontario received recognition Thursday for their accomplishments when Northern Ontario Business handed out its Influential Women of Northern Ontario awards.
Winners of this years Influential Women of northern Ontario awards are: Dani Drewek, Taina Maki Chahal (accepting on behalf of Margaret Phillips), Kiara Gannon, Shelby Ch'ng, Lynn Landry-Rody, Carolyne Leroux, and Chief Georjann Morriseau. (Northern Ontario Business)

Sevenwomen in northwestern Ontario received recognition Thursdayfor their accomplishments whenNorthern Ontario Business handed out its Influential Women of Northern Ontario awards at a ceremony in Thunder Bay.

The winners for the northwest include four Thunder Bay women: Carolyne Leroux of Bombardier Transportation, Lynne Landry-Rody of Threads In Time, Shelby Ch'ngof Unveiled Bridal Boutique, and Margaret Philips of the Northern Woman's Bookstore..

Winners outside the city are Fort William First Nation Chief Georjann Morriseau, Gold Corp employeeDani Drewek of Red Lake, and Kiara Gannon from Atikokanwho won the Influential Woman Essay Scholarship.
