Accused crossbow killer Brett Ryan back in court

The man accused of killing his mother and two brothers in gruesome murders involving a crossbow made a brief court appearance Friday morning.

The man accused of killing his mother and two brothers in gruesome murders involving a crossbow made a brief court appearance Friday morning.

Brett Ryan, 35, appeared via videolink at the Eglinton Avenue courthouse, where his case was put over until next week.

During the brief proceeding Ryan stood straight against a wall, only speaking tostate his name and thankthe judge before walking off screen.

Ryan appeared calm, wearing an orange prison jumpsuit and his hair in the same short style seen in his widely-distributed police mugshot.

Ryan has hired prominent defence lawyer John Rosen, who once defended serial killer Paul Bernardo.

Rosen was not in court on Friday.

Ryanfaces three first-degree murder charges in the deaths of Susan Ryan, 66, Christopher Ryan, 42, and Alexander Ryan, 29.
