Electric Island music festival moved to Woodbine Park due to floods

The Electric Island music festival has been relocated to Woodbine Park for Monday, May 22 after flooding on the Toronto Islands.

The concert and picnicsummer series that celebrates Toronto's underground dance scene is currentlyin its fifth season and hosting its first of five events this year.

"We're really excited. We've actually done a couple other festivals in this park. Its a really great place to be," saysAlexMastro, Organizer for Electric Island music festival.

Organizers of the Electric Island music festival were quick to find a new space atpopular music venue Woodbine Park for their Victoria Day festivities, announcing on May 16 that the location would be moved.

"In about a week we've had to change quite a bit of our permits, change up a couple structural designs, get different site maps, talk to the officials, the police and the city of Toronto," says Mastro.

Fourmore events are coming up for Electric Island on July 1, August 7, September 3 and September 4.

"The plan is to be back on the island for July 1st," says Mastrobut he told CBC that until the water levels go down he doesn't know where the festivalwill be held beyond Victoria Day.
