Toronto police identify man, 23, fatally shot in North York

Toronto police have identified a 23-year-old man killed in a shooting in North York early Thursday.

Police believe overnight shooting was targeted

Toronto police have identified a 23-year-old man killed in a shooting in North York early Thursday.

In a news release on Thursday, police said Marsell Bryan,of Toronto, died in hospital after the shootingon Cherokee Boulevard, near Finch Avenue E.

Bryan is the city's 44th homicide victim of the year.

Police were called to the shooting shortly before 3 a.m. When they arrived, they found a victim with gunshot wounds.

Bryan was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Speaking to reporters at the scene earlier Thursday, Det.Sajeev Nair said witnesses told investigators that two suspects opened fire on the victim.

"At this moment in time I do believe this was a targeted incident," he said.
