What you need to know: Road closures, transit disruptions due to Finch, Yonge van attack

In the wake of theincident in north Toronto Monday afternoon, police have closed roads and TTCservice has been disrupted, making getting around the area difficult.

Here is what commuters need to know about what is happening in the area of YongeStreet and Finch Avenue.

Roads

• Yonge Streetis currently closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic between Finch Avenue and Sheppard Avenue and will remain closed for the evening. Toronto police are asking drivers and pedestrians to avoid the area.
• Drivers travelling east or westcan use Lawrence Avenue, York Mills Road, Steeles AvenueandHighway 7 asalternate routes.
• Drivers travelling north or south can use Bathurst Street, BayviewAvenueor Leslie Street.

Road closures for Toronto Maple Leafs game:

• York Street is closed between Lakeshore Boulevard and Harbour Street. There will be no access to York Street from Lakeshore Boulevard.
• BremnerBoulevard is closed from York Street to Lower Simcoe Street.
• BremnerBoulevard and York Streets intersection isclosed.
• Southbound lanes on Bay Street are closed from Front Street to Lakeshore Boulevard.
• No eastbound traffic on Station Street.
• No northbound traffic on York Street from Harbour Street.
• These closures will be in place for the duration of the NHL game.

TTC

Subway service:

• Service on Line 1has resumed between Sheppard and Finch stations but trains are bypassing North York Centre station, which remains closed.
• Shuttle buses areoperating both ways between Sheppard and Sheppard West stations.
• Passengers can use TTCfares for GOtrains and busesfor as long as the current suspensions are in place.

Buses:

• 36 Finch is diverting eastbound via Talbot RoadandHendon Avenue.
• 97 Yonge is diverting both ways around the closed section of Yonge Street via Elmhurst Street, BeecroftRoadand Park Home Avenue.
• Travellers planningto board the 39 Finch East, 53 Steeles East, or 42 Cummerbuses can board at Leslie Station, on TTC Line 4.
• The6 Bay and 72Papebus routes arediverting both ways via Front Street andYongeStreet.
• Express shuttle buses are travelling from Sheppard Station to Sheppard West Station. Passengers can then use theLine 1 subway to get to Finch West and Pioneer Village stations.
• Due to the service suspension on Line 1, customers wishing to travel north of Sheppardcan usethe Sheppard Line and continue their journey using a northbound bus route

GOTransit

• GO bus routes 19, 27, 34, 36, 67, 32, 38 are starting and ending at YorkdaleStation.
• Routes92 & 96 are departing and ending at Scarborough Town Centre Station.
• Passengers planning to travel westbound from Finch stationcan take the VIVA Blue busto Richmond Hill Centre and connect to GO bus 40 to the Hamilton GO bus station.
• Passengers travelling eastbound can take the VIVA Blue bus to Richmond Hill Centre and take GO Bus 52 to the Oshawa bus terminal.
• GO transit users should use the online trip planner for the most up-do-date information.

York Region Transit

• Some VIVA Blue, VIVA Purple and route 77 buses are experiencing delays of 20 minutes or more.
• VIVAOrange and Route 3 trips experiencing a general delay of up to 20 minutes due to heavy traffic.
