Jian Ghomeshi court case resumes at Toronto court today

Former CBC Radio host Jian Ghomeshi's high-profile sexual assault court case resumes today in downtown Toronto, but Ghomeshi is not in attendance and is instead represented by lawyer Marie Henein.

Jian Ghomeshi'shigh-profile sexual assault court case resumestoday in downtown Toronto, with the former CBC Radio host's lawyer representing him at College Park.

MarieHenein arrived shortly after 9:45 a.m. ET Thursday, but said nothing to the mass ofreportersawaiting whether Ghomeshi himself would appear for the hearing.

Ghomeshi, 47, faces eight charges, which also includeovercoming resistance by choking.

Ghomeshi was fired as host of the arts and culture show Q after sexual assault allegations emerged last October.

He has denied taking part in any violent, non-consensual sexual acts. His lawyer says Ghomeshi intends to enter a plea of not guilty.

LastNovember, Heneinsaid Ghomeshiwould address the allegations against him "fully and directly in a courtroom."

He has been free on $100,000 bail with numerous conditions throughout the court proceedings.
