Nuit Blanche prompts road closures this weekend

Nuit Blanche is back for another year, which means more road closures this weekend in the Big Smoke.

Nuit Blanche is back for another year, which means more road closures this weekend in the Big Smoke.

The art festival takes placefrom sunset Saturday to sunrise Sunday.To accommodatethe all-night event, the following road closures will take effect downtownbeginning Saturday at 4 p.m.:

  • Queen Street West from Yonge Street to University Avenue.
  • College Street (eastbound curb only) from University Avenue to Elizabeth Street.
  • Bloor Street West from Queen's Parkto the northern separation of Queen's Park Crescent east and west.
  • Queens Quayfrom York Street to Parliament Street (multiple access plans for Redpath Sugar, George Brown and TTC). Some segments will be partially closed.
  • Bay Street from Dundas Street West to Queens Quay (most east and west intersections remain open to through traffic). Some segments will be partially closed.
  • Other minor road closures, which will affect traffic in the area.

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will also implement temporary changes this weekend:

  • Queen streetcar will divert onto King Street, between Spadina Avenue and Church Street.
  • Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina subway) will run all night from Downsview to Finch stations.
  • Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth subway) will run all night from Kipling to Kennedy stations.
  • Some surface routes will be diverted around event street closures.

Toronto police sayGO Transit will also have extra late-night service routes available.

Authoritiesare encouraging those attending Nuit Blanche to take public transit.
