Officer bitten by raccoon during animal distress call back on duty

A police officer is back on duty and awaiting test results after being bitten by a raccoon during an animal distress call on Monday.

Officials are waiting for test results to determine health of the raccoon

Police say they received a call about an angry raccoon in the Sherboune Street and Howard Street area.

Toronto police say an officer that was bitten by a raccoon Monday is back on duty as officials await test results determining whether the raccoon was affected by rabies.

Police say the officer received a minor injury to his hand and was treated at hospital.

Police say they received an animal distresscall at around noon Mondayabout araccoon in the Sherboune Street and Howard Street area.

The officer was reportedly helping a business owner deal with the raccoonwhen he was bitten by the animal.

Police say it will be euthanized once the animal has been tested.

It may be a week until officials get results back from that test.
