Ontarians warned about bottled water safety

Ontarians are being warned not to drink or sell bottled water manufactured by Blue Glass Water Co. Ltd.

"Testing has confirmed bottled water manufactured by the operator was heavily contaminated with bacteria and could cause illness," said Dr. Arlene King, Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health.

Officials have found the bottled water being sold in Hamilton, Niagara and Toronto. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Consumers and businesses are asked to check water bottle labels for:

• Bottled at source by Blue Glass Water Co. Ltd.
• Bottled at source by Caledon Clear Water Corp.

The bottled water has been sold in 750 ml and 375 ml sizes and bottles may be blue, green or clear glass with a screw top.

The company, also known as Caledon Water Corporation,was ordered to stop bottling, processing and distributing water on July 25.
