Toronto police release video of shooting near Finch Avenue as they seek 2 suspects

Toronto police have released a video of a shooting near Finch Avenue West in a bid to identify and locate two suspects in the attempted murder of a 20-year-old man.

Toronto police have released security-camera video of a shooting nearFinch Avenue West in a bid to identify and locate two suspects.

The shooting at 15 Pittsboro Dr.near Finch Avenue West and Martin Grove Road Wednesday morning left a 20-year-old man in critical but stable condition. He is now in hospital after surgery.

Police Chief Mark Saunders said police have identified one suspect as Shamaury White, 21, of Toronto. The second suspect has not been identified. Neithersuspecthas beenarrestedand bothare considered armed and dangerous, the chief said.

The video shows one suspect approaching the victim in what appears to be a parking lot and shooting him at close range. Then it shows the two suspects walking away.

Police said the two men, armed with handguns, approached the victim at about 9:15 a.m. He was shot at close range several times. The second suspect also fired several shots at the man.

"It was very deliberate, not accidental in any way shape or form and we have some people on the streets right now that I have concerns about and I don't know what they're capable of doing," Saunders told a newsconference Thursday.

The police chief also linked the shooting to raids conducted Thursday morning.

"It looks like it was very targeted, but more importantly the prevalence of firearms is an issue that we have right now which is part of the reason why we conducted our raids today to once again suppress the street gang type of violence that's going on," Saunders said.

Police arrived shortly after the shooting and found the victim with gunshot wounds.

White is described as five-foot-10 inches tall , with braided black hair, brown eyesand a thin build. He was wearing a blue, short-sleeved T-shirt, with a collar, black-and-white running shoes, black jeans, and a black baseball cap.

The second suspect is described as between 20 to 30 years of age, with a large black afro, five-foot-10 inches to six- feet-oneinches tall, with a thin build.

He was wearing a white short-sleeve T-shirt, black thin-fitting, knee-length shorts, with horizontal stripes along the exterior sides, dark running shoes, and black Raptors ball cap, with white logo on the front.

SuperintendentRonTaverner told the press conference police have confirmed the second suspectwas also carrying a firearm.
