Toronto Blue Jays fans are setting their sights firmly on the playoffs after the team acquired two superstars in Troy Tulowitzki and David Price just days apart.

Team tops Kansas City 5-2 to cap exciting day

Toronto Blue Jays fans are setting their sights firmly on the playoffs after the team acquired two superstars in Troy Tulowitzki and David Price just days apart.

Thursday's 5-2 win over the Kansas City Royals, who made it to the World Series last season, is also helping.

Thousands of fans couldn't resist racing down to buy tickets for the game, driving up the evening's attendance to over 30,000. Many bought new jerseys, too, some even opting for a Price jersey even though the 29-year-old ace pitcher may only be with the team for two, or if they're lucky, three months.

"It's nice to see the team actually make some moves,"said Patrick Carson, a Jays fan who fully supports the new acquisitions.

Ryan Koverko, meanwhile, said he wanted to wait until Price makes his first start for the Jays but couldn't resist seeing Tulowitzki or "Tulo" as he's well known, play.

Tulowitzki and Price, as well as veteran reliever LaTroy Hawkins, are just the latest new faces to the Jays, who have been re-tooled for a playoff push.

"This team is serious, and it's serious about winning," said Josh Donaldson, who hit a massive home run to seal tonight's win.

Chris Colabello, one of the team's breakout performers this year, says the players are just as buoyed by the trades as the fans.

"It seems like everybody was walking with their chest puffed out," he said.

And it's possible the Blue Jays could make even more moves. Major League Baseball's trade deadline is Friday at 4 p.m. ET.
