Prime Minister Trudeau talks about work life balance

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau covered pressing foreign and domestic topics in his sit-down interview with the CBC's Matt Galloway on Tuesday. But when asked about what surprised him most about his new job, Trudeau replied "the pace," saying that he must be "ruthless" about making time for his three young children.

His wife, Sophie, appears to help him with that. Here's what he said about parenting and politics.

Matt Galloway: What surprised you the most about the job now that you're in it?

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau: "The pace. The limit of hours in the day, and the extent to which I need to be really ruthless about ensuring that I do have time with my family and time with Sophie and time to decompress, at the same time as I'm going full out. If I'm left to my own devices I'll work all the time, and I'll go home with briefing books and go through them all the time. And Sophie says, 'No, no, no, no, no, you've got to spend some time with the kids so you can make sense of everything else you do.' And she of course is right, and that's why I am the luckiest man in the world."

Galloway further pressed him on work-life balance. Watch Trudeau's answer in the video above.
