Wednesday morning commute won't be as messy

The morning commute into the city won't be as messy as it was on Tuesday, unless you're heading in from north of Toronto.

There's a risk of flurries in the forecast overnightand also on Wednesday, according to CBC meteorologist Jay Scotland.

If you're coming into Torontofrom the north"where lake effect squalls cross parts of Highway400, Highway7, Highway407, Highway35 and Highway 115" expect a slow drive, Scotland said.

"I see a better chance for scattered flurries through the afternoon here in the city and it will be quite cold with daytime highs in around -6Cto -7Cacross the region," he added. "Winds will also be quite brisk in the 25-35 km/h range."

Most areas of the GTA got about 10 centimetres by the time the snow tapered off Tuesday.

Dozensof flights were cancelled or delayed at Pearson airport Tuesday, and the GreaterToronto Airports Authorityis urging people to continue checking arrival and departure times before heading to the airport Wednesday.

Toronto Police said they responded to68 crashes on theroads Tuesday morning, including 12 that resulted in injuries. AndYork Regional Police said they responded to 50 collisions that resulted in injuries or significant damage to vehicles.

The snow started following on Toronto around 4 a.m., the salters went out, but the snow still made a mess of the Tuesday morning commute.
