Syrian children get 1st taste of Canadian winter with giggle-filled toboggan ride

Giggles and squeals were abundant when three Syrian siblings, in Canada for a mere three weeks, hit the hills in Peterborough over the weekend.

'They were squealing with delight'

Giggles and squeals were abundantwhen three Syrian siblings, in Canada for a mere three weeks, hit the hills in Peterborough over the weekend.

"They were all smiles," saidDavidMcNab, who along with 13 others sponsored the Syrian refugee family andcaptured the Saturday afternoon tobogganing at Amour Hill on aGoPro.

"Itwas like Christmastimewatching them get ready to go. They absolutely love snow," he said, adding they had never seen the white stuff until their recent arrival inCanada.

McNabrode along withsiblingsAnsam, 13,Ibrahim, 10, andDalya, 9, but the children also ventured down the hill on their own.

"They were squealing with delight," he said. "They're actually asking if they can go out again next weekend."

McNab, an Ontario Provincial Police officer in Peterborough, said the group is thrilled to have sponsored this Syrian family.

"It feels like we've won the lottery."
