Toronto Mayor Ford released from hospital

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has been released from hospital after being treated for a kidney stone.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has been released from hospital after being treated for a kidney stone.

Ford is resting at home and will be seeing a urologist on Friday, the mayor's spokesperson Adrienne Batra said Thursday night.

"He is in good spirits as some of the pain has subsided," Batra said.

Kidney stones are very common accounting for many thousands of emergency room visits every year. They can be very painful but are usually treated without surgery.

Ford was apparently in quite a bit of pain, but Batra said earlier in the day that didn't stop the mayorfrom continuing to work.

"He is still returning phone calls, he is still talking to constituents and he's still open for business."
