Advance voting up in all 3 Windsor-Essex ridings

All three Windsor-Essex ridings saw major double-digit increases in advance poll turnout, as compared to the last election.
Windsor-Essex saw a double-digit percentage increase in the numbers of voters who decided to cast their ballots early this year, in comparison to the number of people that did the same thing in the 2011 federal election. (CBC)

All three Windsor-Essex ridings saw major double-digit increases in advance poll turnout, as compared to the last election.

In Essex, 11,903 voters cast ballots over a recent four-day period of advance voting. That was a 59 per cent increase above the 7,479 voters in this riding that voted early in 2011.

In Windsor-Tecumseh, 9,498 eligible voters put their ballots in the box early, a jump of 62 per cent above the 5,861 who did so during the early-voting period in 2011.

In Windsor West, 6,306 people voted early. That was up more than 31 per cent as compared to the 4,805 who went to the polls early in 2011.

Elections Canada reports that some 3.6 million Canadians cast early ballots this year.

That was up 71 per cent from the 2011 election.
