Homicide in Belle River sparks joint investigation

Essex County OPP are investigating a homicide in Belle River.

Police said officers responded to an incident on Faleria Street on Saturday just before 10:30 a.m. One person was found with life-threatening injuries and transported to hospital.

The victim was later pronounced dead by the coroner.

Police say one person is in custody and that there is no threat to public safety.

A joint investigation has been launched by the OPP along with LaSalle police, the office of the province's chief coroner and the Centre of Forensic Sciences.
