The latest proposal from Windsor's transportation committee recommends bike lanes that zigzag around Wyandotte, instead of providing a direct route between George Avenue and Vernon Crescent.

"I think I'm joined by just about everyone, who has ever seen the zigzag plan, in thinking that it's rather ridiculous," she said.

The committee's recommendation will be presented to city council next week, which is when members of Bike Windsor Essexplan to present their petition.

"This is much, much more than just a bicycle issue," Newton said. "This is about creating safe streets, slowing down our streets so that pedestrians, cyclists and all road users are safer."
