After the veterinarian took the dog into a clinic, it was soon discovered the animal had a pellet lodged in its ear.

And after the dog underwent X-rays, Foster said the veterinarian found 18 additional pellets within its body.

"The rest of the pellets are in soft tissue, for the most part, in the neck and head area,"said Foster.

Foster said plans are in place for the dog to have surgery so that the pellets can be removed.

"The veterinarian has said that, you know, in the short term and maybe in the long term, the dog could survive with them in, but we are working to have them removed,"Foster said.

Anyone with information about what happened to the dog is asked to contact the London Humane Society, or to call Crime Stoppers.

Foster said the humane society is appealing to the public for information, as they hope to prevent any similar abuse to other animals.
