Recently,I walked into a new bakery on Wyandotte Street called theHouse of Baklava.

As the name might suggest, they have great baklava, sold ina variety ofshapes and featuring different nuts. They also make beautiful looking cakes and cookies.

But it was another pastry that caught my attention.

It's called kanafeh.Unlike baklava, it's alittle harder to find around town.

Kanafeh is a sweet, crispy cheese pastry commonly eaten for breakfast in the Middle East.

Think of it as aMiddle Easternanswer to thecheese danish. You can eat it plainor insidea bun.
