Body of missing Michigan swimmer recovered on Lake St. Clair

A pair of helicopters and other rescue vessels were involved in the search for a possible missing wind surfer or paddle boarder at Sauble Beach. The investigation was called off Wednesday, after police said they believe the person made it back to shore safely.

The body of a missing Michigan swimmer on Lake St. Clair has been recovered.

Ontario Provincial Police say search crews located the 28-year-old's remains around 8 p.m. Sunday.

He disappeared on the lake near Belle River on Saturday, just before 4 p.m., according to authorities.

"Police received a report concerning a swimmer who had jumped into the water from a pontoon boat and did not resurface," OPP said in a statement.

Emergency crews from both sides of the border assisted with the search.
