Snowfall warning in effect for Windsor-Essex, Leamington, Chatham-Kent

A low pressure system will bring about 15 cm of snow Wednesday and Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the region.

Environment Canada expects at least 10 cm of snow Wednesday

The third snowfall of the season is hitting the region, and Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning.

A low pressure system in the area will bringwith it about 15 cm of snow on Wednesday, which will begin to slow down aroundmidnight.

A snowfall warning is in effect forWindsor and Essex County,Leamington,Chatham-Kent andRondeau Park.

Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cmare possible for Windsor and Essex County and Leamington.

Sarnia-Lambton could get another 5 to 10 cm on Thursdaybecause of snow squalls produced by north winds, said Environment Canada meteorologistKelly Hobelman.

Hobelman saidthis is more snow than earlier forecasts had suggested.

The good news is, winds have remainedlightso the storm will not have the additional blowing snow the region saw on Tuesday. However, there's enough wind that afternoon temperatures in the range of -6 C have a wind chill around -13.

The overnight low will hit around -12 C, with a wind chill near -20.

Record breaker?

Record snowfall for Windsor on December13 is13 cm, set in2000.

The record for most snow on the ground on this date is 15 cm, set in 2010.
