'Move Here. Move the World:' Detroit submits bid for Amazon HQ2

Detroit has submitted its bid for Amazon's HQ2, according to a tweet from billionaire Dan Gilbert, who was in charge of the effort.

Bid website touts 6,000 daily cross-border commuters from Windsor

Detroit has submitted its bid to hostAmazon's second headquarters, according to a tweet from billionaire Dan Gilbert, who was leadingthe effort.

While the details of the bid have not yet been revealed, a companion video and website were released Thursday morning. The sitetouts the American city as a "global gateway to talent and resources," stating that 6,000 commuters travel from Canada each day.

Several Canadian cities have thrown their hats into the ring to host "HQ2" and the 50,000 full-time jobs the company says can be expected over the next 15 years, with an average pay of more than $100,000 U.S. annually.
