School buses in Essex County are cancelled due to fog

Buses remained parked for the morning commute three times last week, too, because of dense fogs in parts of the county.

Service will resume in the county Friday afternoon, according to transportation officials

For the fourth time in just over a week, school buses have been cancelled in Essex County. And, it's once again due to weather conditions. Service will resume as normal for afternoon pick up and drop off, according to transportation officials.

They remain operational in the city of Windsor for the morning.

Buses remained parked for the morning commute three times last week because of dense fogs in parts of the county.

Environment Canada meteorologist Steven Flisfeder previously told CBC News this is the time of year where fog is most common in Canada, especially in places like the Windsor-area.

"What happens is we have warm, fairly humid days, and when we get to clear sky conditions at night, what happens is the temperatures really cool down, but that moisture doesn't go anywhere."

He said fog is more prone to develop in Essex County because of the amount of moisture in the air from being so close to Lake Erie and St. Clair. That, coupled with even more ambient moisture coming in from the U.S. south.

"Because of the overall pattern we have right now, where it's a high-pressure system dominating over the southern part of the province, it's kind of a persistent forecast where we have these warm, clear days and those clear nights continue, which really helps with the fog formation."
