Speed limit dropped to 70 km/h on Ojibway Parkway

The City of Windsor quietly went about dropping the speed limit 10 km/h on Ojibway Parkway recently.
The speed limit on Ojibway Parkway is now 70 km/h in both directions between Morton Drive and E.C Row, down from 80 km/h. (CBC)

Speed limits on a section of the Ojibway Parkway dropped by 10 km/h after recent changes by the City of Windsor.

Maximums speedis now capped at 70 km/h in both directions between Morton Drive and E.C Row, down from 80 km/h.

The changes are designed to improve safety and allow for planned improvements to traffic lights and turns, explainedDwayne Dawson, the city'sexecutive director of operations.

He says the new speed limits will"transition the public off of an expressway setting and into more of an urban setting."

Ojibway Parkway from E.C Row to the Lou Romano Water Reclamation Plant on Sandwich Street has also been dropped to a 70-km/h zone in both directions.

It turns to a 50 km/h zone heading eastbound at about the treatment plant.
