It's no surprise to these Windsorites that some of the worst roads in the region are located in Windsor.

According to an annual CAAvote, three roads in Windsor make up six of the worst roads in southwestern Ontario (with two roads tied for fifth place).

Despite those results, no Windsor roads crack the top 10 worst in the province.

According to an online voteconducted by CAA,the worst roads in Windsor are Tecumseh Road East, Lauzon Parkway and University Avenue West in second, fourth and fifth place, respectively. Theworst road in southwestern Ontario is Plank Road in Sarnia.

The southwest region includes Essex County, Lambton County and Chatham-Kent.

Residents from across the province weigh in on the results, usually citing potholes, traffic, poor maintenance and cycling infrastructure.

Hamilton's Aberdeen Avenue topped the province-wide list, followed by Eglington Avenue West in Toronto and Barton Street East, also in Hamilton, to make up the top three.

A CAA spokesperson said over 2,000 roads across 145 municipalities were nominated.Previous CAA researchshowsspending one dollar on pavement preservation eliminates or delays spending $6 to $10 on repairs later on.

CBC News asked locals for their opinions of roads while downtown on Tuesday.

"The worst, I'd say, being a resident of University Ave, that's a tough clip," said Jamie Meloche.

"It doesn't seem to be getting better. And I mean, you see construction all over the city, but it's the same roads all the time."

Jocelyn Nikita says she now cycles to work after maintenance issues with her car she suspects were caused by her daily commute downtown.

"I drove for many years, but our axle on our vehicle would always get really loose because further down University there's a lot of congestion in the road, like a lot of potholes," she said.

"I think we got our vehicle serviced bi-monthly for that reason because things would go loose because it was so rough on our vehicle."

Adil Ahmad, who was celebrating his graduation on Tuesday, says that he doesn't find the roads that bad, compared to where he learned to drive.

"Like compared to my country, from Pakistan, over there is worse," he said. "Compared to that, [Windsor] is not that bad."
